About the Event

Now in its seventh year, the annual Lurie Prize award ceremony is the FNIH‘s premier event. It brings together some of the foremost leaders in the field of biomedical sciences to recognize outstanding achievement by a promising scientist aged 52 or younger. The award is made possible by a generous gift from FNIH board member and philanthropist, Ann Lurie. The winner is chosen by a distinguished panel of jurors.

Branding

The goal of the Lurie Prize event branding and invitation design is for it to rise to the level and the prestige of the event itself. As a result, each year the attendees look forward to the WOW factor that Pomp delivers.

This year, Dr. Yasmine Belkaid was recognized for her achievement in the study of microbes and their role in the immune response of our gut and skin!!! It’s really pretty fascinating—even for a laywoman like myself. ?

The name of the event is definitely the hero of the branding—I kept this in mind when designing the invitation.

Using the stacked letters of “Lurie Prize,” I created a peekaboo laser cut cover revealing an image from Dr. Belkaid’s work. The space agey image is actually of adipose tissue (or fat) in the gut. Taking it up a notch, I used holographic purple foil stamping throughout to add that modern upscale element.

Once the invitation was designed, I used Dr. Belkaid’s as a texture for the letters of the email save the date as a tease to the invitation guests would be receiving.

Rounding out the day-of designs, FNIH was so in love with 2018’s program that I used a similar design but updated it with Dr. Belkaid’s image as in the inside covers.

Lastly, using my branding as a base, Design Foundry once again knocked the park with the stage set design.
